Can I actually learn fire manipulation from videos, or do I need in-person training?
In-person training with a qualified instructor is always the ideal, and it’s something we offer through our workshops. But the reality is, there are very few instructors in the world who can offer genuinely good quality fire manipulation training. Most people simply don’t have access to one.
The Fire In Your Face Academy was created to make fire manipulation training more accessible. We believe that well-structured online tuition is significantly better than poor in-person instruction. A badly taught in-person lesson can build bad habits, skip critical safety steps, and leave you worse off than if you’d learned properly on your own. The Academy was built from over 1,000 in-person students, so the course content is shaped by the same real-world teaching, just delivered in a way that’s accessible from anywhere.
How long will it take before I can actually eat fire?
That varies from person to person, but honestly, fire eating isn’t as physically difficult as most people expect. The real challenge is mental. It’s about overcoming the completely natural instinct to not put fire in your mouth. Most of the time, it’s confidence rather than skill that determines how quickly you progress.
The Foundation Course is designed with this in mind. It builds your confidence gradually as you work through it, and gives you practical tools and tips for getting past those mental hurdles.

What fuel should I use for fire eating?
This is covered in detail in the free safety course. Fuel choice is one of the most important safety decisions in fire manipulation, so we make sure you understand it properly before you start.
I've seen fire eating tutorials on YouTube, so why should I pay for this?
There’s fire eating content on YouTube, but most of it is outdated, full of bad habits, and lacks any real depth. You’ll usually get a surface-level “here’s how” with no understanding of the science behind each technique or why things work the way they do.
The rabbit hole in fire manipulation goes deep. Much deeper than any single YouTube video is realistically going to cover. And when you’re piecing together random videos from different creators with different approaches, there’s no structured progression. You don’t know what to learn first, what builds on what, or what you’re missing entirely.

What format are the lessons in?
The Foundation Course is delivered through video lessons. The free safety course includes a mix of video and written content to make sure the essential safety information is as clear and thorough as possible.

The Next Level Techniques Vault is updated over time with new techniques and sequences as they are developed.
Which tier is right for me?
Every tier includes the Fire Manipulation Foundation Course, so you’re getting the full core training no matter which one you choose. The difference is how far you want to take it.
Foundation is for you if you want solid, structured training in fire eating and fire manipulation and you’re happy to work through the material at your own pace with technical support if you need it.
Performer is for you if you want to go beyond the basics. You get everything in Foundation, plus access to the Next Level Techniques Vault, a growing library of more advanced techniques and sequences that will help you stand out.
Professional is for you if you want direct feedback on your technique. You get everything in Performer, plus video critiques for a full year, so you can submit your practice and performance videos and get clear, actionable feedback. You also receive a free pair of limited edition Nitro Grip torches, fully customised to your preferences and exclusive to the Academy. This tier has limited availability.
Business is for you if you’re serious about building or growing a business around fire performance. You get everything in Professional, plus a business assessment and three hours of one-to-one mentorship calls with Tom. This tier has limited availability and requires an application.
Is there a payment plan?
There are flexible payment options available at checkout, so you may be able to split your payment into smaller instalments depending on your eligibility.
How long do I have access to the course content?
The Foundation Course and the Next Level Techniques Vault are yours for life. If your tier includes video critiques, those are available for one year from enrolment.
I've already done one of your in-person workshops. Do I still need the Foundation?
A lot of the workshop content is covered in the Foundation Course, but the online course goes much deeper. There are extra techniques that aren’t in the workshops, mainly because in-person sessions have time constraints. Because it’s online, there’s no time limit, so everything gets the space it deserves. If you’ve done a workshop, you’ll have a head start, but there’s plenty in the Foundation you won’t have covered.
How is this different from your in-person workshops?
More content, a deeper dive into each technique, and you can work through it at your own pace. The workshops are limited by time, so there’s only so much that can be covered in a session. The Academy doesn’t have that limitation, so every technique gets the full breakdown it needs.
Will this help me get paid gigs?
While marketing and business are important, you can’t build a performance business without the skills. The skills are the foundation that everything else is built on. The Foundation Course will give you those skills for less than you should be getting paid for a single gig.
How much space do I need to practise?
This is covered in detail in the free safety course, including what makes a good training space. Ideally, you want a safe indoor space, and the course will explain exactly what to look for.
Can I practise indoors?
Yes, and indoors is actually much better than outdoors. Practising outside is fire manipulation on hard mode thanks to wind and the elements. Some countries have more favourable conditions than others, but an indoor space gives you the most control. The free safety course covers how to set up a safe indoor training space.
Do you ship the Nitro Grip torches internationally?
Yes. The Nitro Grip torches are shipped internationally and entirely free of charge. Postage and packaging is fully covered.
Is there a minimum age to enrol?
Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to enrol in the Academy.
What language is the course in?
The course is currently in English. Captions in multiple languages will be added in the future.
Can I share my account with someone else?
No. Your Academy account is for your use only and cannot be shared with anyone else. Each enrolment is tied to a single user.
